Q&A with SERGIO BENAVIDES III, Donna High REDSKINS SENIOR point guard

The Donna News caught up with Senior Point Guard Sergio Benavides III to ask him about the basketball season and his game. Here’s what he had to say in the Meet the Redskins Q&A:
Q: Tell us when you knew you wanted to be a Redskins basketball player, and why?
A: Once I got moved here my freshman year that’s when I wanted to be a basketball player because I’ve been playing basketball since I was little.
Q: How excited are you to bring that winning mentality to Redskins Basketball?
A: I am always excited to execute whatever needs to be done for the team.
Q: What would you say is the most important aspect of your game?
A: I would say my offense is my strength. Specifically shooting the ball..
Q: What did you do this summer to improve your game to get ready for this season?
A: I would always participate throughout the summer workouts they had here on campus and played at an outside league.
Q: What basketball move did you work on to showcase this season?
A: Probably the sweep and go move. I’m pretty fast and quick so I take advantage of the move.
Q: What are your team goals for this year?
A: Our team goal is winning District.
Q: What are your individual player goals for this year?
A: My individual goal is to help out the team win games.
Q: Who ís you favorite professional basketball player?
A: LeBron James
Q: Who ís the greatest basketball player of all time?
A: Michael Jordan.
Q: What is your favorite basketball movie or video that you have watched?
A: My favorite movie is “Hustle.”
Q: If you could pick any university in the country to play basketball for, which one would you choose and why?
A: UCLA (University of Los Angeles)
Q: What is your most embarrassing play or turnover you ever made playing for the Redskins at any level?
A: When I scored on the wrong basket last year. It was highly embarrassing.
Q: What is your favorite classroom subject?
A: Science
Q: What is your favorite game day hype song?
A: My favorite hype song is Trophies by Drake
Q: What TV game show or movie series would you like to appear on?
A: Jimmy Fallon
Q: Who would you pick as your all time greatest starting five?
A: Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan, Kobe, Bryant, LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal.
