Donna High meets up with McAllen Memorial tonight on the gridiron

DONNA — Tonight’s District 16-5A Division I matchup between the Donna High and McAllen Memorial at home could shake up the District if Donna High can pull off the win.
And if Donna High can win its last three games it could mean a playoff berth.
Kick off between Donna High (1-4) and McAllen Memorial (5-0) is at 7:00 p.m. tonight at Benne La Prade Stadium in Donna.
With nothing to lose Donna High will rely on their one, two punch using quarterback Jake Garcia and running back Marco Lopez. Both have been moving the ball very well on the ground in their last two games.
Mean while McAllen Memorial comes into the game as the District leader and five game winning streak. They are undefeated in District play. Their sole lose came by the hands of Edinburg Vela in their first game of the season.
Since then the Mustangs have not looked back as they have taken down McAllen High, Palmview, Lopez, McAllen Rowe and Pace.
Donna High will look to get back into the winner column with an upset tonight. They come into the game after losing a close match to McAllen Rowe 21-17.
Donna High’s first win of the season was against Brownsville Lopez 42-7.
Coming into the contest Donna High Quarterback Jake Garcia has thrown for 135 yards on the season. His longest pass was for 40 yards and he’s thrown one interception. On the ground is another story as Garcia has rushed for 255 yards and four touchdowns.
Donna High Running Back Rey Urbina has rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on the season. Also in the back field Donna High’s Marco Lopez and Luis Silva have each scored one touchdown on the season respectively.
Tonight Garcia will look for Marco Zamorano, Luis Silva and Jacob Yanez down field as each have scored receiving TD’s heading into tonight’s game.
