Donna High Freshmen football roll past PSJA Memorial

By RAUL GARCIA JR | The Donna News

ALAMO — It didn’t take long for the Freshman Redskins team to get into gear on the gridiron.

The Redskins defense started off the scrimmage against the home team Wolverines and quickly took a chop at its running game attack.

Some big stops by the defensive line and linebackers easily turned into three and out possessions for the Wolverines.

The Redskins went on to score four touchdowns, and held the Wolverines to two scores.

“The freshman team competed very well against PSJA Memorial,” Donna High Head Coach Mike Gonzales said.

Freshman Quarterback Dallas Zuniga drove the ball down field with his running game and pass attack. He converted with two touchdown completions and set up the team for two running touchdowns.

The team’s toughest series of downs came when they were stopped from scoring from within five yards of the endzone after rumbling towards the goaline from 20 yards out.
