DONNA — The Donna High student body will select the 2021-22  87th Annual Indian Sweetheart Thursday.

This year four cheerleaders are vying for the coveted position, and the right to don the Indian headdress.

The contestants  are  Roxie Cantu, Megan Calderon, Andromeda Zuniga and Angela Sandoval. Each of them have worked to gain the support of the student body with their own projects and rallies to help gain student voter support.

Alyssa N.Perez was selected the 86th Indian Sweetheart last year.

The selection of the Indian Sweetheart was first introduced in 1934.  According to history, the Indian Sweetheart campaign was to help raise money for the prom and the contestant with the most most votes and most pennies raised was declared the Indian Sweetheart.
