Lions Club to host April golf tourney

The Weslaco Mid-Valley Lions Club are having their annual scholarship golf Tournament (Julian Flores, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament) at Tierra Santa Golf Course in Weslaco on Saturday, April 24.
Players may pre-register with one of the Lions Club members before April 24 with Raul Medina, 483-0552; Javier Flores, 684-3082, President Adrian Gonzalez, 678-8382.
Secondary registration with the Lions Club starts at 8:00 a.m. at the golf course and the tournament starts at 9:00 a.m.
Proceeds from this event will go towards the scholarship fund. Every year the Mid-Valley Lions Club awards several scholarships to graduating seniors.
This tournament will be a Florida Best Ball, 3-man team format. The three man team will consist of the minimum requirements: Players are to declare their true handicap. Also team handicap is 32 or higher, but only one single digit player per team. We are requesting that players or teams pre-register BEFORE the tournament. Do not pre-register with Tierra Santa. Pre-register with one of the Lions Club members. When you register, please have your handicaps available. Players may pay their own fees, or they may get a business to sponsor their team. Team sponsorships are $400 for three players. If you do not have a sponsor for your team, the fee per player will be $150.
At the tournament, you may purchase mulligan tickets and be eligible for door prizes. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best teams with the lowest scores. The amount of prize money will be determined by the number of participants. Several contests will take place, such longest drive, closest to the pin, and a Tiger Woods shot will also be available for purchase.
We encourage businesses to participate in the following manner. Sponsorships are available as follows: Team sponsor, $400 (for three players); hole sponsor, $200; Donations in any amount may also be made to the Weslaco Mid Valley Lions Club.
